Depois de muitas dúvidas por causa dos problemas causados pelas cinzas do vulcão chileno Puyehue, a delegação santista finalmente desembarcou em Montevidéu no começo da tarde desta terça-feira.

Assim, a Conmebol confirmou também que a primeira partida da final da Taça Libertadores da América entre Peñarol e Santos acontecerá nesta quarta-feira, às 21h50, no Estádio Centenário.

O Santos saiu de Cumbica, em Guarulhos, às 9h40, um pouco depois do Aeroporto de Carrascos, na capital uruguaia, ter sido fechado novamente por causa das cinzas do vulcão chileno. Assim, cogitou-se que a equipe pousaria em Porto Alegre.

No entanto, a Pluna, companhia aérea que a delegação brasileira utilizou, foi a única que manteve sua programação de voos, e assim, por volta das 12h20, o avião do Santos chegou ao Uruguai.

Em contato com o ESPN.com.br, o secretário-executivo da Conmebol, Francisco Figueiredo Brito, havia dito que se a delegação brasileira não conseguisse chegar a Montevidéu nesta terça, o primeiro jogo da decisão seria adiado. Com o desembarque do Santos, o dirigente confirmou a realização da partida para quarta-feira.
